Esther, for the Gospel Coalition

In many seasons and for various reasons, I have seen myself in Esther—her pain, her fear, the providence of her position, and hopefully sometimes, her bravery, too. But like so many women in the Bible, she’s susceptible to the Dorothy question, “Are you a good witch or a bad witch?”

While some Bible characters are cast clearly as villains, most are more ambiguous. And really, every story is meant to point us to the same perfect and wonderful Hero.

I could write a tome on Esther, but for now you’ll have to settle for this article I published with the Gospel Coalition. This little labor of love is for every woman who struggles to see God’s redemption in her pain. God’s love is profound for Esther, and it abounds for #MeToo.
