An Encouragement from Kathleen Norris

Is this you right now—in a period of gestation? I have so many daily reminders that something is cooking, but the reality for all of us is that God is always working wonders around us.

It’s common for women to experience moments in their labor where they want desperately to be alone. There’s something almost carnal about the focus and seriousness of it—this longing that lead our ancient sisters into forests or quiet dark places where they could focus on the work needed to bring forth life.

Is this Covid season for you? A time of seclusion where something is growing, laboring, painful, alone?

In childbirth class, you learn that labor pain is actually productive. Unlike pains that tell us something is wrong, the stronger the contractions, the closer to birth.

And it reminds me of something God tells us: “This slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.”

This season has purpose for you. God is doing unseen work. And that suffering 👉 endurance 👉 character 👉 hope.
