Pregnancy Throwback — 11 Weeks, 3 Days

My app tells me that the baby’s sexual organs are forming and it’s crazy to think that vital aspects of this tiny person’s identity are already present. Deep in our child’s DNA is the code for the man or woman to come.

Today - 33 weeks, 4 days
One of the beautiful things about parenting is that you have the opportunity to influence a child’s definition of self. Others will try to define your child (and you for that matter) based on how you present to them. They will see or hear X and construct little boxes accordingly.

But Christians found our identity in something much more distinctive—and also inclusive—than the one-size-never-fits-all boxes available in our culture. We get to decide what social constructions to reject and what to embrace as we nurture our children into adulthood.

This bouncing boy in my belly is so much more than blue. He will reflect God’s image in ways that are distinct from his father and brother and also alike. I marvel at the fortune of being able to shape and celebrate him for years to come.
