You kick me now, secure and snuggled while the world burns down. You aren’t exactly timely news to share at work, so I hide you beneath the desk, away from the eye of Zoom, tucked away in the only safe place I know.

The joy of those tiny flutters seems so quaint now that we are practicing full on jiu jitsu 24-7 🥋 But that secret mixed sentiment still lingers. Why would anyone want to have a baby when we are experiencing such global turmoil?

Investing in the nurturing of others is a fundamentally hopeful task. It declares to the world our belief that human flourishing is still on the horizon. I make the radical choice to invest in growing life because I believe that God will work all things together for good. That He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. That His banner over us is LOVE.

Whether it is politics, race, the environment, Covid, unrest in Armenia, or something more personal—would you choose to believe in God’s goodness today? Would you choose the hopeful act of nurturing life?

Our investment in others is a beacon of hope. And it matters for eternity.
